Assessment of the potential environmental impacts that may be generated by a product or service is an essential part of ecodesign implementation. This assessment has two main objectives: to identify environmental strengths and weaknesses and to compare and select design alternatives. The environmental assessment has to be done considering the entire life cycle of the product and including all of its system components. This can be done using different tools, such as: The selection of the most suitable tool for a specific case depends on, for example, the objectives of your assessment, the complexity of your product and the availability and quality of data. We also suggest that you use Tespi, a simplified tool to help you in the decision-making processes of ecodesign. Main sources used in this part are: - Tischner, U. et al. 2000. How to do ecodesign?.
